What Should I Put in My First Aid Kit?

First Aid KitIt is important to keep a well-stocked first aid kit in your home, automobile, workplace, and recreation area.  In addition, you should learn and stay practiced in first aid-skills such as CPR. Store each kit in a dry place and replace used contents regularly.  A basic first aid kit should contain the following:

  • Sterile gauze pads (dressings), 2 and 4 inch squares to place over wounds
  • Roller and triangular bandages to hold dressings in place or to make an arm sling
  • Adhesive tape & Adhesive bandages in assorted sizes
  • Antibacterial Ointment or Spray
  • Scissors and tweezers
  • Ice bag or chemical ice pack
  • Disposable latex gloves
  • “Space Blanket”
  • Flashlight, with extra batteries in a separate bag
  • Antiseptic wipes
  • Hand Cleaner
  • Syrup of Ipecac
  • Activated Charcoal
